University Venture Development Fund

How the fund will be managed

The UO Venture Development Fund is overseen by Rich Linton, Vice President for Research and Graduate Studies.

Funds will be received and managed by the University of Oregon.

Grants from the UO Venture Development Fund will be allocated among three integrated programs which target the most promising discoveries arising from the UO’s research enterprise:

• Innovation and Entrepreneurship Program (IEP), an interdisciplinary program administered by the UO’s Lundquist College of Business that involves close collaboration with the law school, the College of Arts and Sciences, the Office of Technology Transfer, and the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in Richland, Washington.

• Proof-of-concept and translational research grants administered by the UO Vice President for Research

• Innovation and Entrepreneurship Venture Fund seed grants, awarded as matching funds, to new UO spinout companies arising from the highly competitive IEP program

“This fund will enable a higher percentage of new ideas to bridge the gap between basic discovery and societal application through key investments in entrepreneurial education, applied research, and start-up companies emanating from Oregon's universities.”

Chair, Oregon Innovation Council
